The Huron Area POD-Point of Dispensing-will be exercising their plan this year by offering free flu vaccine to children ages 6 months through 18 years.

This event will be a drive-by flu clinic held at the Nordby Exhibit Hall on the South Dakota State Fair Grounds October 28th from 4:00-7:00 pm.  Entry is at the south gate of the Fairgrounds on 6th Street SW.

There are 500 doses of flu vaccine available, so it will be on a first come, first served basis.

You must complete the consent form for each child receiving a vaccination prior to coming to the event and bring the forms with you.   If you have not completed the forms before coming to the site your child/children will not be vaccinated.

The Consent Form can be found on the Beadle County website http://beadle.sdcounties.org or the City of Huron’s website https://www.huronsd.com

You will remain in your car and traffic will be directed by local law enforcement.

You will enter the Nordby Exhibit Hall in your vehicle to receive vaccination.
You will be directed to an area to park following vaccination where you will wait 15 minutes before leaving the area to assure no allergic reaction to the vaccine. Local ambulance will be on site.

The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones against influenza (flu) is to get a flu vaccine every flu season. Flu is a contagious respiratory disease that can lead to serious illness, hospitalization, or even death. CDC recommends everyone six months and older get an annual flu vaccine.
While some people who get vaccinated still get sick, flu vaccination has been shown in several studies to reduce severity of illness.

Flu viruses are constantly changing, so flu vaccines may be updated from one season to the next to protect against the viruses that research suggests will be common during the upcoming flu season. • Your protection from a flu vaccine declines over time. Yearly vaccination is needed for the best protection.
